Like its larger sister island of Malta, Gozo offers a colourful annual calendar of traditional seasonal events, including its very own distinct carnival and a number of summer festas. Every year, an eclectic blend of local and international events, entertainment and exhibitions take place. The island is renowned for the passion and enthusiasm that the locals have for opera. Two theatres located within a few metres of each other in the capital Victoria stage popular favourites by Verdi, Puccini and others to packed houses. Many afficionados travel from Malta and beyond to attend, but finding a seat could be challenging - so early booking is advised.
